Former head of Computer Networks department. He received his BSc. n Electrical and Electronics Engineering from Garyounis University (Now, University of Benghazi) Benghazi 1995. He then worked as teaching assistant at Omar Al-Mukhtar University since 1997 until he granted a full scholarship to join MSc programme at Sheffield Hallam University, UK, in which he obtained the degree in 2005. He received PhD majored in Wireless Communications and Signal Processing at The University of Liverpool, UK.

It is not a secret, in this era called the era of informatics, the important and main role of information technology, computer science and communications and the services it provides to individuals, groups, institutions and governments in all sectors and facilities. Perhaps, the Internet is the biggest indicator and an example of this importance.

 

The foreseeable future depends mainly on these technologies and their resulting innovations such as; Artificial Intelligence, Big Data, Internet of Things, Virtual Reality, Augmented Reality among other promising concepts and technologies that are expected to change the shape of the current world.

From this standpoint and the recognition of the importance of these sciences, the Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Benghazi was established (in the year 2006), which grew out of the former Department of Computer Science, Faculty of Science. The faculty contributes to the dissemination and development of knowledge of information science and related technologies in society, through a set of academic programs and degrees that qualify the human resources specialized in this field, in addition to scientific research and professional consultancy.

Currently, the faculty offers a Bachelor and Master’s degree to approximately 1500 students in majors: Computer Science, Information Systems, Software Engineering, Computer Networks, and Computer Systems Design. The faculty updates its study plans periodically, and it seeks to add more majors and programs in the future to keep pace with modern developments in the areas of this science. Perhaps the increasing demand for studying at the faculty confirms the importance and quality of these programs and the necessity of the commitment of the faculty’s staff to present and develop their programs continuously. The faculty is proud of its academic staff consisting of 47 members of teaching staff from highly qualified from the most prestigious international and local universities; including 2 professors, 4 associate professors, 5 assistant professors, 16 lecturers and 20 assistant lecturers, in addition to a number of cooperating professors of all degrees. The faculty is also honored to have the contributions of its academic staff in disseminating research with a significant percentage in enhancing the rank of the University of Benghazi in general. This is in addition to the faculty’s 2500 graduates, who have proven their merit in the labor market in all sectors and the increasing demand for them, given their quality and the importance of their specializations.
