He received his B.Sc. degree in Computer Science from Benghazi University, Libya, in 1995. He joined Omar Al-Mukhtar University, Libya, as a demonstrator in 1997, from which he was offered a full scholarship to join the graduate program in Computing and Computer Sciences in 2002 at Northumbria University, UK, where he received his M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees in 2004 and 2009, respectively.

The Faculty of Information Technology at the University of Benghazi was established in 2006 in order to meet the needs of the local and regional market for various disciplines of computer science and information technology and to keep pace with the development of technology in the world in various fields. The Faculty of Information Technology aims to prepare and graduate specialists in various branches of computing ( theoretical and applied ) information technology in line with the requirements of scientific progress and the society needs to the professionals needed to serve the development of economic, scientific and social and to satisfy students’ aspirations.

The nucleus of establishing this faculty was the Computer Science Department of the faculty of Science at Benghazi University in 1981, where this department contributed to the graduation of large numbers of Bachelor’s degree holders in Computer Science until the establishment of the Faculty of Information Technology. Upon the establishment of the Faculty of Information Technology, a number of new departments were created, and plans and study programs were approved for the undergraduate and master’s levels. Among these sections: Department of Computer Science, Department of Information Systems, Department of Software Engineering, Department of Computer Systems Design and Department of Computer Networks, in addition to the Department of Computer Science Marj Branch, which was established in 2010.

 

An MSc program in Computer Science was also approved in the tracks of Artificial Intelligence and Software Engineering in conjunction with the establishment of the Faculty. At the beginning of the academic year 2015/2016, other tracks were added to the master’s program in addition to the previous two tracks, namely Information Systems and Computer Systems Design and Computer Networking. Accordingly, the faculty has granted a Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in many programs and specializations that the country needs in terms of the local market’s needs for specialists in computer science and information technology and in the academic field.

 

The Faculty of Information Technology has a group of qualified faculty members who have scientific degrees from prestigious international universities. The faculty also has a number of students abroad for masters and doctorate degrees. The faculty is distinguished by the innovation of its programs, which are designed according to local and international quality assurance standards and to meet the requirements of the local and regional markets.  Faculty departments offer general and specialized fabricated courses that are considered a theoretical and practical application that reflects the student’s ability to apply all theoretical and applied sciences, practical skills and scientific research skills acquired through the under-graduate and post-graduate study stages. The scientific departments also offer a variety of graduation projects, mini projects and summer training for students in order to acquire practical skills through their visit public and private institutions and companies related to information technology specializations, which enhances students’ chances of obtaining job opportunities after they graduate. The faculty is also keen to appoint outstanding students as teaching-assistants in order to qualify and integrate them into various graduate programs, whether inside the faculty or outside the country.

 

 

 

The faculty, staff, and teaching-assistants work to develop administrative and academic work that serves the learning process and contributes to the country’s overall renaissance. The faculty and students also participate in many scientific conferences, forums, seminars, and academic activities. It was achieved by publishing many scientific types of research and winning several valuable prizes as a result of these contributions in the various fields of information technology, whether in scientific research or in the design of programs, information systems, and computer applications.
